Top-Up Methods

Top-Up Methods

The Top-Up Methods setting lets your team define named deposit methods such as Cash, PayPal, or Bank Transfer.

These methods can be selected when:

  • A consumer submits a top-up request in the kiosk
  • An admin adds money from the consumer balance dialog

Why Use Methods

Using named methods improves bookkeeping and reporting:

  • Deposit transactions show how the money was received
  • The transactions page can be filtered by method
  • Bookkeeping shows top-up totals grouped by method

Transactions Filter

On the Transactions page, open the filters and use Top-up method to narrow results.

Available filter options:

  • A specific method (for example Cash or PayPal)
  • No method (for older deposits or deposits created without a selected method)

When a deposit has a top-up method, the method name is shown in the Product column for that transaction.

Bookkeeping View

On the Bookkeeping page, the Total income section includes top-ups by method.

This means you can see:

  • The overall top-up total
  • A per-method breakdown (for example Cash vs PayPal)
  • An unspecified/no-method bucket when applicable

Enforce Selection

You can enable Enforce top-up method selection.

When enabled, users must select a method during deposit flows if at least one active method exists.

If no methods are configured, deposits continue to work normally and no method selector is shown.

Deleting Methods

Deleting a method does not remove historical bookkeeping data.

  • Deleted methods become inactive and can no longer be selected
  • Existing transactions keep their original method for audit history
  • Re-adding the same name restores the existing method instead of creating a duplicate

Naming Rules

Method names are unique per team (case-insensitive).

Examples considered duplicates:

  • Cash
  • cash
  • CASH
