Negative Stock
Negative stock allows products to be booked even if their recorded stock level has dropped below zero.
What This Does
When enabled:
- Products can still be purchased in the kiosk
- Stock levels can temporarily go negative
When disabled:
- Products are blocked once the stock reaches zero
Why Allow Negative Stock
Stock levels are often updated manually or when orders are marked as received. This can lead to temporary mismatches between real stock and recorded stock.
Allowing negative stock is useful when:
- There was a counting error
- Stock was consumed before an order was recorded
- A product is still physically available, even though the system shows zero
By allowing negative stock, you ensure that real-world availability is reflected in usage, and that consumption continues to be tracked correctly.
