Low Balance Threshold
Low Balance Threshold
The Low Balance Threshold helps identify consumers who are close to running out of balance and encourages timely top-ups.
How It Works
You define a threshold amount (for example, €5).
When a consumer’s balance is at or below this value:
- The consumer is visually highlighted with an orange indicator in consumer views
- When the consumer tries to buy a product in the kiosk, they are shown a prompt asking them to top up their account
This prompt serves as a reminder and makes it easy for consumers to take action before their balance runs out.
Setting the threshold to 0 disables both the visual indicator and the top-up prompt.
What This Does Not Do
- It does not block purchases
- It does not prevent balances from going negative (if overdrafts are enabled)
It is a guidance and reminder feature only.
Why This Is Useful
- Encourages proactive top-ups
- Reduces the number of consumers going into negative balance
- Improves transparency for both consumers and admins
- Keeps real-world usage flowing while maintaining good tracking
