Consumer Overdraft
Consumer overdraft allows consumers to book products even if their account balance would go below zero.
What This Does
When enabled:
- Consumers can still book drinks or food in the kiosk
- Their balance may become negative
- The consumption is still fully tracked and visible
When disabled:
- Purchases are blocked once a consumer’s balance reaches zero
Why Allow Negative Consumer Balances
In a shared fridge or pantry, the app cannot physically prevent someone from taking a drink.
Allowing overdrafts ensures that:
- All consumption is still recorded, even if the balance is insufficient
- You avoid untracked consumption
- Balances remain transparent and can be settled later
In practice, it is usually better to track a negative balance than to block the booking and risk the item being taken without any record.
